Clown Shoes Chocolate Sombrero

I’m a big fan of stouts, big beers, and chocolate plus spice, so this beer pretty much was made for me. This is another brewery that has only recently entered our market.

It has a very dark color with a tan/brown head. It has a very chocolatey aroma, with a hint of toffee and vanilla.

Overall, the flavor is fantastic. The hops are noticeable, but not out in full force, as expected in this brew. This is a chocolate stout first, a vanilla beer second, and a spicy beer last. You taste the chocolate malts and some vanilla notes in the front with a wee bit of a cinnamon bite, and then there’s a small hint of the ancho chile in the back. It’s a fairly complex mix of flavors, but not so complex that it’s undrinkable. It’s a little thick, so it’s definitely not one to sit and drink all night.

I really enjoyed this, and I’ve since had it on tap at Avenue Pub and it’s even better there.
