This was an absolute joy to be able to drink. Rogue’s brewmaster had just completed his 15,000th brew and to celebrate, he conjured up this beautiful stout. The beer was released in limited quantities — only 1,515 bottles were sold (we got #606) — and they were only sold through their website. Each bottle was made out of ceramic and featured a swing-top cap. Each bottle was also signed and numbered by John Maier, Rogue’s brewmaster. It also came with a certificate of authenticity!

That’s all well and fine, but how did it taste?

It was very dark in color, with a tan head. It looks just like a stout should. It has a rich, nutty, malty aroma. It’s a tad hoppier than most stouts on the finish, but very pleasantly so. It has an almost creamy body, but it’s light. It drinks very easily.

It has some notes of chocolate in its taste and aroma as well. I also noticed a little bit of toffee in the taste as it hit my tongue.

This was a really magnificent beer and I’m super happy I got to try it.
